*Receiving hits while running a [[Hentai@Home]] client (1 GP per hit).
*Uploading a [[torrent]] or owning a gallery with one.

The original purpose of GP was to be spent for doggiebagging user galleries. A far more popular purpose however, is to [[Gallery Control Panel#GP Converter | convert]] GP to [[credits]], for use in other systems such as the [[Training System]] in the [[User Site CP]].

Originally, the value of GP was static, at a rate of .2 credits equaled one GP (similarly, 5 GP would equal 1 credit). However, the value of GP now fluctuates, dependent solely on how much gp is converted by users globally over the time between each conversion. As of the writing of this article, one GP is worth between the equivalent of 0.083 credits to about 0.118 credits (respectively, one credit equals from approximately 8.5 GP to approximately 12 GP).
 
For the sake of the [[Doggie Bag]] system however, GP still retains its static value, where 5 GP is equivalent to 1 credit (which 1 credit is equivalent to 1 MegaByte)
