General History

The following table lists important developments in tagging mechanics.

2012-07	Most fetish tag wiki pages are created. The galleries assumably start linking to wiki entries around this time.
2012-09	Namespaces (reclass and language) are introduced in gallery version 0.19. Namespaces parody, character, group and artist are added in gallery version 0.20.
2012-11	male namespace is introduced in gallery version 0.23.
2013-03	female namespace is introduced in gallery version 0.27.1.
2013-07	Voting rules for new fetish tags are established (thread).
2017-12	Autotagger is introduced (thread).
2021-12	mixed, other and cosplayer are introduced, misc namespace is renamed to temp (thread).
2023-08	Creation of new non-fetish tags is overhauled (thread).
2024-03	Tag voting is overhauled (thread), tag tracker is introduced (thread).

Table

The date column is roughly when the wiki page was activated but may be inaccurate in some cases. Wiki page activation may also not always accurately represent the actual introduction of the tag. Most ancient tags are not included in the table unless something interesting happened to them (see end of page for list).
