Gallery Tagging

Usage Guidelines

In general, do not tag something unless it has a fair amount of presence in a gallery.
- For example: 10+ out of 80 images would be sufficient for tagging, especially if they are sequential. Anything found in only 1-2 images should almost never be tagged.
  - The exceptions to this are: bestiality, guro, incest, lolicon, scat, shotacon, and toddlercon.

Tags are alphanumeric and only allow for spaces, periods, and hyphens. Tags must be at least 3 characters long (3d is an exception). Thus, certain things cannot be tagged in the same manner in which they are normally written (e.g. Creator Tags).

Tags like futanari and yuri do not go together; they can only be tagged if they occur separately. e.g. Two girls having sex for a few pages followed by futanari having sex with a female for a few pages.

Most costume/clothing tags only apply if they are kept on (at least partially) during sexual activities. If they are absent or removed beforehand, they should not be tagged. Non-pornographic galleries are an exception.

Any context-sensitive tags (usually dialogue-based rather than visual) should be fairly obvious to a casual reader. These include cheating, netorare, prostitution, teacher, etc. If you are not sure that these are present in the gallery do not tag them.

Good Tags

Language

Any language except Japanese.: Should be tagged in their English equivalent (e.g. Spanish not Espanol).

Content/Descriptors/Fetishes

age progression: Person grows older during the course of the story.
age regression: Person grows younger during the course of the story.
alien: Any creature from outer space that shows intelligence. Use monster otherwise.
angel: Having angelic wings.; Slave tags.
apron: A garment often worn for protection while cooking. Usually worn with nothing else for erotic purposes.
ass expansion: The buttocks growing for any reason. Does not necessitate transformation. Likely to invoke big ass.; Slave tags with notable synonym butt expansion.

big ass: Noticeably wide hips or large buttocks. Should be roughly double the size of the person's head or bigger.; Slave tags.
big balls: Abnormally large testicles. A ball being at least as big as a hand suffices.; Slave tags.
big clit: Abnormally large clitorises. Not to be confused with futanari even if the clitoris is used in a similar fashion.; Slave tags.
big nipples: Long enough to be gripped in one hand.; Slave tags.
big vagina: Abnormally large vaginas, sometimes just the lips.; Slave tags with notable synonym large labia.
birth: The act of a live creature being born.; Slave tags.
blindfold: An eye-cover meant to disable a person's sight. Often paired with bondage.
bloomers: Gym outfits for Japanese schoolgirls. Typically blue.; Slave tags.
body modification: Altering parts of the body in some artificial way, typically with technology. Not to be confused with transformation.
bride: A woman dressed in a wedding gown.
bunny boy: Male version of bunny girl.
bunny girl: Bunny ears, occasionally also a puffy tail.; Slave tags with notable synonyms rabbit girl and usamimi.
business suit: A woman dressed in business attire. A plain suit is not enough.; Slave tags with notable synonyms office lady and secretary.

catfight: Uncoordinated fighting between two females with some eroticism. Does not include wrestling.; Slave tags.
catboy: Male version of catgirl.
chastity belt: A locking item of clothing designed to prevent sexual intercourse or masturbation. Often paired with bdsm.
cheerleader: Cheerleader uniforms, usually with short skirts and matching accessories.
chikan: The act of fondling or touching another person in a sexual manner. Rarely consensual and often takes place on a train or a bus.; Slave tags with notable synonyms grope and train.
christmas: Clothing often associated with Santa Claus that involves prominent use of red fabric and white trim edges.; Slave tags with notable synonyms santa and xmas.
collar: A garment that fastens around or frames the neck. Often worn during bdsm or human pet activities.; Slave tags with notable synonym leash.
conjoined: Two or more heads sharing the same body. May involve twins or transformation.
corset: A garment worn to hold and shape the torso, typically into an hourglass figure.
cosplaying: Characters cosplaying as other characters. Not to be confused with cosplay.

deepthroat: A blowjob in which the penis enters the throat.; Slave tags with notable synonyms irrumatio, throat deformation, and throat fuck.
diaper: A type of underwear used to defecate or urinate in discreetly; often worn by infants. Usually paired with scat, urination, or age regression.
dick growth: Growing a penis when one did not have one at all, or growing one to an abnormally big penis. Does NOT necessitate gender bender.; Slave tags with notable synonym futanarization.
dicknipples: Nipples that appear or behave like penises.
double anal: Two penises inserted into the same anus.
double penetration: Any kind of situation when at least two penises, sex toys, or tentacles penetrating one person in two different orifices. NOT needed if the group tag suffices.
double vaginal: Two penises inserted into the same vagina.
drugs: Any intoxicant used to encourage promiscuity or pleasure.; Slave tags with notable synonyms aphrodisiac, injection, and medicine.

machine: Sex with a machine. Not to be confused with robot or sex toys.; Slave tags.
maid: Maid uniform. Often consists of a dress or skirt of various lengths and an apron, but it may vary.
masturbation: Solo action.; Slave tags.
miko: A shrine maiden; a young priestess. Usually wears a white shirt and loose pants or a long skirt.
monster girl: Same as monster but portrayed as girls. This also includes demi-humans.; Slave tags.
multiple breasts: Any number higher than 2 on a single person.
multiple penises: More than one penis. Not for tentacle-style penises.

robot girl: A mechanical female.; Slave tags with notable synonyms android, cyborg, fembot and gynoid.

skinsuit: Wearing another person's skin.
slime girl: A girl whose body is made entirely out of goo.; Slave tags.
speculum: A medical tool for spreading open body cavities such as the anus or the vagina. Necessitates gaping.

Variables

Circle: Name of the circle(s) that published the manga.
Mangaka: Name(s) of the artist(s) who drew major parts or all of the manga. Often pseudonyms credited in the manga. Note that the names of writers (if they were credited solely as writers) are NOT to be added.
Original series: Names of the series that appear or are being parodied. Parodies should be obvious and relevant. For instance a cosplayer cosplaying as a certain character. Should be as specific as possible (e.g. "dragon quest v", not "dragon quest") if the sub-series is different from the main one. Note that this is NOT needed on the series' actual manga.
Participant: Names of character(s) or people (such as the character that a cosplayer is cosplaying as) participating in the gallery. Note that only female characters apply unless there are males participating in yaoi or that become genderbent. Original characters (non-parodies) that do not exist outside of their own works should not be tagged. Non-H works may only have the most focused character(s) be tagged.; Character names are preferred in full and in their western order (given name(s) followed by family name; e.g. hinata hyuga). There are rare exceptions and cases still being decided. See Character Tags.

Know The Difference

Bestiality - Known animal or creature of lore with no human qualities having sex with a non-animal.
Furry - Anthropomorphic. Has human qualities mixed with those of an animal or creature of lore.
Monster - Does not closely resemble any known animal. Also any creature of lore that is non-organic.

Futanari - Penis with a vagina still present (may not be visible).
Shemale - Penis and testicles present, no vagina present.

Big Breasts - At least roughly the size of the character's head.
Huge Breasts - Twice the size of the character's head or larger.

Cheating - Someone having sex with someone other than their spouse without their knowledge. Usually a wife with someone other than her husband.
Netorare - The husband / spouse is aware of the infidelity. Also acceptable for when the story attempts to sympathize with the spouse if he doesn't know.

Breast Feeding - Breasts are sucked on directly by a mouth. Milk may or may not be present. Often occurs with infants and their mothers.
Lactation - Breasts secrete or squirt milk on their own or with little effort.
Milking - Breasts are actively being pulled in some way (machine pumping, methodical tugging, etc.) to induce lactation.

Corruption - Removing someone's purity of character and changing their personality to a more deviant one. May or may not be sexual. May be permanent or undone during the storyline.
Mind Break - Conditioning someone to enjoy sexual activities against that person's will. Usually implied to be permanent. Often paired with the ahegao tag.
Mind Control - Hypnosis or other techniques are used to take advantage of someone sexually by suppressing their will. May alter the victim's active personality although it is not their real one. Generally temporary in nature.
Possession - An individual's body is directly controlled, having their mind suppressed by an outside entity. Typically done by a ghost or spirit.

Pantyhose - Covers the genital area as well as the legs.
Stockings - Covers the legs up to around the knee area.

Inflation - The stomach area is expanded artificially via air, cum, slime, tentacles, or other liquids. Sometimes caused by an enema. Often leads to a round (possibly balloon-like) belly with an appearance similar to being pregnant.
Pregnant - Expansion via fetus or eggs being inside the stomach area. Sometimes leads to the birth tag if a live creature is involved.
Stomach Deformation - Part of stomach area appears to bulge, bend, or stretch unusually. Very often caused by a big penis, large insertion, or tentacles.
Weight Gain - Expansion occurs naturally (although perhaps at an extraordinary metabolic rate) via food. Often leads to folds of fat forming and incurring the bbw tag.

Bodysuit - Covers the arms and legs in addition to the torso.
Latex - Used in BDSM, usually includes a mask or gag.
Leotard - Used for gymnastics and wrestling.
Swimsuit - Used for swimming or repelling water.
Tights - Used primarily by superheroes. Usually include a cape.

Bad Tags

Note: These are merely examples, not a complete list.

Bad Languages

Japanese: It is expected.

Bad Content/Fetishes

areola, ass, nipples, shaved: Not descriptive enough.
Eye colors: No one cares.
Hair colors / styles: See above.
kissing: Too common and not considered sexual in and of itself.
Locations: Most locations that have little or no impact on the story or the eroticism.
long hair, skirt, upskirt: Far too common to point out.
microphone: Has no sexual connection to the gallery.
nice tits: A personal opinion, not descriptive.
nymphomaniac, semen, sex, straight, vaginal: These are expected.

Bad Gallery Descriptors

adult comic, censored: These are expected.
cute, extreme, funny, gross, hot, garbage, not bad, sad, scary, terrible, ugly, weird: A personal opinion, not descriptive.
need translation: Requests should be made on the forums, not via tags.
softcore: Far too common to point out.

Bad Variables

Convention: Can be in the gallery's name, but not as a tag.
Date: The month and year of publication can be in the gallery's name for magazine releases, but not as a tag.
Publishers: They do not produce the content. Rare exceptions apply if no other names that can be used to identify a work's creator.
Resolutions: This is technical and not helpful for searches.
Scanners: They do not produce the content.
Software: The tools with which the artist created the content are irrelevant.
Title: The title of a gallery is NOT something to be tagged unless it is otherwise an already appropriate tag. Manga titles are also not needed.
Translators: See "Scanners".
Websites: See "Publishers".
Writers: Not to be confused with the artist(s).
Year: See "Date".

Other

Do not:

Use real porn fetish tags, such as hardcore, on drawn content galleries.
Tag a person's nationality such as korean, these tags are for indicating languages only. Also do not use the names of countries for either of these purposes.
Guess a character's name or use just their first name. There is a list that can assist you with names here.
Use a language tag on an Image Set gallery unless a vast majority of it (75%+) contains text in that language.
Tag ANY animal names on anything that is not in conjunction with the bestiality tag. This includes furry content.
Tag mother on anything that is not in conjunction with the incest tag. This includes women giving birth, women who happen to have children, or for "milf"s.
Vote up tags of a temporary nature past too much power (anything over 10 is satisfactory enough). These include incomplete, out of order, and category tags. This is because such tags can become no longer applicable if the gallery changes.
Use negative tags like not futanari. If you disagree with a tag vote it down and post about it in the forums here.
Use the cosplay tag when characters in drawn works are cosplaying as other characters. This tag is only for re-categorizing. Use the cosplaying tag instead.
Combine tags (e.g. "furry yaoi"). Each tag should be separated by a comma. This also includes artist/circle names or character pairings (e.g. "naruto x hinata").
Use "catgirl", "bunny girl", etc. for furries.

What are slave tags?

Slave tags are tags that have been grouped together under one dominating master tag. Searches for these tags will yield results from all tags within the same group. (e.g. searching for "dildo" will result in all galleries tagged with "sex toys")

Why Should I Tag?

It helps people find the things they are looking for in the galleries.

Tagging earns you points toward a toplist position and the rewards that come with it. You score 3 points for adding a new tag and 1 point for voting on a tag. Tags that are contained within the gallery's name also only give 1 point each. You can score for up to 5 tags on any one gallery. New tags are given priority for score. So if you added 3 tags and voted on 2 or more existing ones you would get 11 points (3 * 3 + 2 * 1).

Tag Colors

Normal = White

Upvoted = Green

Downvoted = Red

Slave = Gray (can only be downvoted)

Downvoted slave = Dark red (cannot be undone)

Upvoted slave = Dark green (cannot be redone)

Tag Mod Power

Tagging, like many functions on E-Hentai, operate on users' mod power.

Upvotes use mod power equal to that of the user; downvotes use half that.
Tags only become visible on a gallery when they have at least 2 mod power.
The Tag Flagging Hath Perk only works on tags with 5 or more mod power.
Tags become searchable when they have at least 10 mod power. Note that this takes ~1-5 minutes to activate in the system.

Known Issues

Creator Names

Some artist/circle names are too short (less than 3 characters) or may have been grouped or blacklisted for various reasons. In these cases use "artist {name}" or "circle {name}". See Creator Tags for a partial list of these.

Longer String Issues

The search engine includes shorter strings in larger strings containing the term (e.g. "job" will give results including "blowjob" and "titjob"). Tags can also be grouped with other tags (titjob is part of the paizuri tag group). Thus search results for one tag can include galleries containing the larger tags' grouped tags.

Workarounds

In order to search for just galleries that use the shorter tag:

Use an exclusionary search command. For example, to find just rape galleries use a search phrase such as "rape -group". For the reverse use "group -forced".
Use a direct tag link (e.g. http://g.e-hentai.org/tag/rape/)
