Renaming

An example of a gallery renaming petition that has successfully changed the name of a gallery.

Renaming allows users besides the gallery uploader to change the name of a user uploaded gallery. Typically this makes the gallery easier to identify or find via searches.

Process

• Renaming normally occurs once a petition reaches 100% power. A user's voting power is equal to their mod power. Votes can exceed 100% power (and can continue indefinitely) but this is largely unnecessary.
• If multiple petitioned names exist past 100% power, the name with the highest percentage will always take priority.
  • For this reason please do not vote up on a petition once it has served its purpose of renaming as any additional re-renamings will require more mod power.
• You may choose to withdraw or change your vote in a petition at any time. Withdrawing votes can cause the gallery to revert to its original name if no names on the petition are past 99% power.
• Petitions left incomplete for more than 7 days are automatically purged.

Naming Style

The basic style is as follows:
(Convention name) [Circle name (Artist name)] Title (Parody names) [Language] [Translators] [Special indications]

Anatomy of A Gallery Name

Convention name

The convention name where the work was sold. Preferred by their shorthand (e.g. C74 not Comiket 74; CR37 not Comic Revolution 37).

The Japanese name should use their equivalent (e.g. Cレヴォ37 instead of CR37)

Circle name(s)

The group name that the artist works under. Some artists work under multiple circles or can change which ones they work for at any time. Thus, don't assume that if you know the artist name you automatically know the circle name (and vice-versa).

Artist name(s)

Writer names are also expected here (separated by a comma).

Title

May include its translation after a vertical line if the work is translated (e.g. Nurse wo Kanojo ni Suru Houhou | How to Go Steady with a Nurse).

Parody name(s)

Name(s) of the series being parodied. Most common in Doujinshi galleries. Preferred the same as how they are tagged, with a few exceptions (e.g. Ranma 1/2 is preferred even though it is tagged as ranma 12).

Language

Must be the language name's equivalent in English (e.g. Spanish, German). Thai and Vietnamese must include their in-language equivalents ([Thai ภาษาไทย] and [Vietnamese Tiếng Việt]).

Translator(s)

Can also be in {curly braces} or with no braces. They are preferred how the translator writes them (such as on their archive files). Not needed in the Japanese name.

Special indications

Decensored, Colored, Incomplete, Ongoing, Digital, Textless, etc.

Usage

• Only known and applicable information should be used. If you are unsure of something, just leave it out. New rename petitions can be put in to amend any missing information.
• Unlike tags, names allow for all symbols
• If the any of the artist/parody names exceed 3, it is preferred to state Various instead.
  • H-magazines like COMIC Megastore need no indication of any authors or circles.
    • Likewise, anthologies should simply be "[Anthology] Title".
• Languages should only be indicated for translated/rewritten works or wherever such languages would not be expected.
  • e.g. "Japanese" is not needed on most Doujinshi or Manga galleries, and "English" is not needed on most Western galleries.
• A space should exist between "Vol." / "Ch." and the number.
• Leading zeros are best left out; e.g. Ch. 7 not Ch. 07.

Do Not

• Use "同人誌", "同人CG集", "同人ソフトCG", "アダルトコミック", "エロ", "成年コミック", or "成年コミック" in the Japanese name. These are redundant / irrelevant.
• Use "(Complete)", "(End)", or any other variants to indicate the end of a series or its completeness.
• Use publisher or website names unless no other names can be associated with the work. Some exceptions apply.
• Use "Original" as a parody name to indicate a non-parody work. It is assumed that all gallery names without a parody included are using original characters.
• Put the date in any brackets if it's part of the name; e.g. Comic Megastore 2011-10 not Comic Megastore [2011-10].
• Use the gallery name to describe the gallery's contents unless the gallery has no possible formal title and the name is not pejorative.
• Use leading zeros, they are unnecessary.

Rewards

Renaming galleries (as well as expunging them) rewards points for the Cleanup Toplist. Users receive more points for being the first to petition. Points are only awarded on the day that the petition is successful.
