Making Galleries

The following is a guide to uploading galleries.

Checking

• Make sure that none of the content is forbidden by the site's rules.
• Check that the content is not already uploaded. Any gallery that states that it is "Visible" counts as "existing" in the system. This generally isn't necessary for imageset-type galleries.
  • Ways to check include:
    • Searching for the title, artist, or applicable tags.
    • Performing a file search on at least one of the images.
  • If intending to replace an existing gallery, make sure that the content is genuinely superior. Be wary of posting an upscale.
• Remove any duplicate images before uploading. These can be scanned for using software such as VisiPics.
• There is a risk the gallery will be expunged as a compilation if it includes portions of comics or CG sets that do not belong. e.g. An imageset dedicated to an artist can contain all of their works besides their published comics/sets.
• Sort and remove any mixed content (Cosplay, 3D, and 2D content should not be in the same gallery; likewise with Asian and Western content). There are separate categories for a reason.
• It is advisable to double check that the order of the images is correct (where applicable).
  • In addition, it is advisable to rename the files for consistency and ease of viewing (e.g. 001.jpg, 002.jpg, etc.) for those that choose to download the gallery.
• Filenames may only contain alphanumeric characters, hyphens, and underscores. Any Japanese characters will be discarded. Any other characters may result in the file being rejected by the system.

Uploading

1. Go to My Galleries.
2. Click on Create a New Gallery.
3. Fill in as much information as possible (name and description). Galleries are required to have a Romanized title.
   • The Japanese title field is not needed for works that are not of Asian origin. If uncertain leave it blank.
4. Choose the folder to which the gallery will be placed (this only affects where it is found in the My Galleries screen). The default is "Unsorted".
5. Check the boxes indicating that the rules have been read and agreed upon as well as which category the gallery falls under. Not checking the category box will create a private gallery (donators only). Click "Create and continue".
6. Add archives or images that make up the gallery's content. Click "Upload and Add More" if more uploads are needed for the gallery (max 14 files at a time), otherwise click "Upload and Continue". Repeat this step as needed.
7. Wait for the uploading to finish.
8. Once the uploading is complete check for completeness. At this time it is possible to also re-order, add, or remove any images. Re-ordering should be done if the pages are out of order and especially if the cover of the gallery is not the first image of the gallery.
9. Once satisfied, click on "Publish Gallery" to publish the gallery.

Please note that it can take ~1-15 minutes for the gallery to appear on the gallery list depending on server activity.

Limits

• Archives may only be of the following formats: RAR, ZIP
  • To prevent order or content issues, it is strongly recommended to archive and upload each folder on their own (for galleries with folders) and remove Unicode characters or convert them to ASCII standards.
  • Compression method should be Deflate, LZMA, or PPMd and word size should not exceed 32.
  • Encryption is not permitted.
  • RAR5 is not supported.
  • Maximum upload size for archives is 1GB.
• Images may only be of the following formats: GIF, JPG, PNG
  • Animated GIFs and PNGs are permitted.
• Individual images are capped at 10MB in size and 20,000 x 20,000 in resolution. Minimum resolution is 100 x 100.
  • Images that exceed the filesize cap may be converted in order to shrink their filesize (with as little quality loss as possible) but the gallery's description must state this and the original files must be included in the gallery's torrent.
• Galleries are capped at 2,000 images.
  • For works that exceed 2,000 images it is acceptable to create 2+ galleries. Each gallery besides the last must fully utilize its 2,000 image allotment.

Warning

If attempting to upload an existing gallery the following message will appear:

Warning: The gallery you are trying to post has already been published:

Read the Expunge Guidelines or How to Search for Galleries to make sure your gallery won't be expunged as duplicate, or consider keeping it Private.

Updating

All modifications to galleries can be done through the My Galleries UI.

• Owners may modify a gallery's name(s) or description freely after it has been published.
  • This cannot be done if a petition was successful on the gallery. In order to change the name further a new petition must surpass the existing one.
• Once a gallery is published, adding, removing or reordering files will count as an update. This creates a new gallery that immediately replaces the older one (with a new timestamp).
  • Galleries will be expunged if they are updated more than 2 times per 30 days.
    • Exceptions: Any valid additions to artist-specific galleries, ongoing comics, or ongoing translation projects. Any changes for fixing an expungable gallery (e.g. removing forbidden images). These may be done freely without limit.

Aged

A gallery becomes "aged" 1 year after its last publishing.

• Such galleries cannot be updated. Any necessary file changes will require re-uploading and replacement via expunging.
• Any renaming cannot be done via the My Galleries UI and must be done via petition.
• Recategorizing or changing the description is still permitted.

Bounties

If uploading content with a bounty on it, be sure to contact the bounty poster to claim the reward.

Promoting

• Users are free to promote their uploaded galleries in their forum signature or on other websites.
• Users may choose to make a torrent of their gallery's contents. These torrents may also include non-image files or anything not present in the gallery.
  • All files in a torrent must still adhere to the rules and must be relevant to the gallery. Any abuse of the torrent system may result in a ban.
  • Note that users besides a gallery's owner may make torrents for a gallery as well.

Rewards

Each hit on a user's galleries rewards GP (users will not be rewarded until after 4 hours have passed and the gallery is not expunged during that time). Getting enough hits can also earn a ranking in the uploader / gallery toplists. Some conditions apply. If a gallery received an Existing Gallery Warning it will earn no GP.

As Published

• All published works such as CG sets must be uploaded "as published" as closely as possible.
• Non-supported image files such as BMP or PPM must be converted to PNG of the same resolution as the non-supported file type.
  • Uploading both JPG along with the PNG files is permitted if they are both distributed by the source.
  • File sizes should remain reasonable (e.g. a 250MB PDF should not lead to a 700MB gallery). It is permitted to downscale original images only to bypass the 10MB file size limit (and the original files must be included in the gallery's torrent).
  • PDF files should not lead to galleries that may be seen as absurd resolution upscales (e.g. 4534x6405^[1] where 1360x1920 is better). Users are encouraged to use the best non-artifacted resolution and provide the original PDF in a torrent instead.

Image Grouping

When uploading an imageset it is important to know that fully dressed people not engaging in sexual behavior is not viable for tagging. e.g. If a gallery is uploaded containing 10 pictures of girls standing around in bikinis and 2 pictures of normal sex then the gallery is not viable for any tags.

This can be avoided by either:

• Splitting up up the content into two galleries, one with sexual content and one with non-h content. That way both galleries will be viable for tagging their respective content. Make sure they are categorized correctly.

Alternatively:

• If the image collection largely contains the same fetish across the board simply sorting them in sexual and non-sexual sequences within the gallery will be enough, the non-sexual images will not be viable for tags but the sexual content will be grouped and hence maximized for viable tags.

This is true for all fetishes; a grouped fetish in a larger gallery with many different fetishes requires a lot less pictures compared to those that are spread out.
