Tagging is a system of the E-Hentai Galleries to assist users in identifying the contents and properties of a gallery.
Usage Guidelines
| Rule | Details | Examples / Exceptions |
|---|---|---|
| Presence | In general, do NOT tag something unless it has a fair amount of presence in a gallery. Anything found in only 1-2 images should almost never be tagged. | Example: 10+ out of 80 images or more than 25% would be sufficient for tagging, more so if they are sequential.
Exceptions: abortion, bestiality, birth (stories/sequences only), guro, incest, lolicon, scat, shotacon, toddlercon. 1 image of ANY of these is enough for a tag. |
| Formatting | Tags are alphanumeric and only allow for spaces, periods, and hyphens. Tags must be at least 3 characters long. Thus, certain things cannot be tagged in the same way that they are normally written. | Exceptions: 3d and anything belonging to a namespace. |
| Conflicting | Tags such as {futanari and yuri} or {dark skin and gyaru} do not go together; they can only be tagged if they both occur separately. | Example: 2 females having sex followed by a futanari having sex with a female would suffice for both tags. |
| Costume / Clothing | Only apply if they are kept on (at least partially) during sexual activities. If they are absent or removed beforehand, they should NOT be tagged. | Exceptions: Non-pornographic galleries. |
| Context Sensitive | Some tags do not require visual presence but then must have dialogue/story presence. Do NOT tag them unless they are fairly obvious to a casual reader. | Examples: cheating, netorare, prostitution, teacher, etc. |
| Namespace | Most fetish tags default to non-males. In order to indicate that a fetish applies to a male the male namespace must be used. | Examples: m:glasses if a male is wearing glasses, m:anal if the male is receiving anal sex, etc. |
| New | The creation of new fetish/content tags is fairly prohibited. Please use the forums to request a new tag. | Exceptions: Creator (artist/group) or series (parody) tags. |
Good Tags
- Contents/Fetishes
- As long as they are relevant sexually.
- Languages
- Should be tagged in their English equivalent (e.g. Spanish not Espanol).
- Circles
- Name of the circle(s) that published the manga. Should NOT be added to anthologies or where it cannot be certain which circle name was used.
- Mangakas
- Name(s) of the artist(s) who drew major parts or all of the manga. Often pseudonyms credited in the manga. Note that the names of writers (if they were credited solely as writers) are NOT to be added.
- Original Series
- Names of the series that appear or are being parodied. Parodies should be obvious and relevant. For instance a cosplayer cosplaying as a certain character. Should be as specific as possible (e.g. dragon quest viii, not dragon quest) if the sub-series is different from the main one.
- Participants
- Names of characters (or characters that a cosplayer is cosplaying as) participating in the gallery. Original characters (non-parodies) that do not exist outside of their own works should not be tagged.
- Non-H works may only have the most focused characters be tagged.
- Character names are preferred in full and in their western order (given name(s) followed by family name; e.g. hinata hyuga). There are rare exceptions.
- A character in costume is to be tagged with their alias (should they have one); otherwise use their real name. e.g. "sailor mercury" when she is transformed, "ami mizuno" when she is not.
- A genderbent character is preferred be tagged with their regular name. Exceptions apply to characters that act independent of their male persona. These include "naruko" and "kyonko".
- A character with no official name may be tagged based on their relationship with another character. e.g. "dexters mom" from Dexter's Laboratory.((Ref))
- Asian cosplayers' names are preferred in eastern order.
Tag Directory

Know The Difference
Bestiality - Known animal or creature of lore with no human qualities having sex with a non-animal.
Furry - Anthropomorphic. Has human qualities mixed with those of an animal or creature of lore.
Monster - Does not closely resemble any known animal. Also any creature of lore that is non-organic but not mechanical.
Futanari - Penis with a vagina still present (may not be visible).
Shemale - Penis and testicles present, no vagina present.
Big Breasts - At least roughly the size of the character's head.
Huge Breasts - Twice the size of the character's head or larger. Invokes big breasts.
Cheating - Someone having sex with someone other than their spouse without their knowledge. Usually a wife with someone other than her husband.
Netorare - The spouse is aware of the infidelity. Also acceptable for when the story attempts to sympathize with the spouse should they not know about it.
Swinging - Both partners are knowingly having sex with other people and are fine with that.
Breast Feeding - Breasts are sucked on directly by a mouth. Milk may or may not be present. Often occurs with infants and their mothers.
Lactation - Breasts secrete or squirt milk on their own or with little effort.
Milking - Breasts are actively being pulled in some way (machine pumping, methodical tugging, etc.) to induce lactation. Invokes lactation.
Corruption - Removing someone's purity of character and changing their personality to a more deviant one. May or may not be sexual. May be permanent or undone during the storyline.
Mind Break - Conditioning someone to enjoy sexual activities against that person's will. Usually implied to be permanent. Often paired with the ahegao tag.
Mind Control - Hypnosis or other techniques are used to take advantage of someone sexually by suppressing their will. May alter the victim's active personality although it is not their real one. Generally temporary in nature.
Possession - An individual's body is directly controlled, having their mind suppressed by an outside entity. Typically done by a ghost or spirit.
Pantyhose - Covers the genital area as well as the legs.
Stockings - Covers the legs up to around the knee area.
Inflation - The stomach area is expanded artificially via air, cum, eggs, slime, tentacles, or other liquids. Sometimes caused by an enema. Often leads to a round (possibly balloon-like) belly with an appearance similar to being pregnant.
Pregnant - Expansion via a fetus being inside the stomach area. Sometimes leads to the birth tag if a live creature is involved. Should not be tagged if a girl is simply shown as pregnant in the last pages of a story, nor is it to be used in place of impregnation.
Stomach Deformation - Part of stomach area appears to bulge, bend, or stretch unusually. Very often caused by a big penis, large insertions, or tentacles.
Weight Gain - Expansion occurs naturally (although perhaps at an extraordinary metabolic rate) via food ingestion. Often leads to folds of fat forming and incurring the bbw tag.
Bodysuit - Covers the arms and legs in addition to the torso.
Latex - Used in bdsm, usually dark in color and includes a mask or gag.
Leotard - Used for gymnastics and wrestling.
Swimsuit - Used for swimming or repelling water.
Tights - Used primarily by superheroes and are very colorful. Usually include a cape.
Mecha Girl - Female wearing mechanical parts as clothing.
Mecha Musume - Anthropomorphic mecha or machine-female hybrid.
Robot Girl - Mechanical female made to look human.
Bad Tags
Note: These are just a few examples.
- Location: forest, office, prison, school, space, virtual reality
- Meme: arrow to the knee, epic fail, lolwut, over 9000, pomf, sup mugi
- No Sexual Connection: celebrity, exercise, heels, microphone, pillow, swords
- Opinionated / Pejorative: cute, extreme, funny, gross, hot, garbage, nice tits, not bad, sad, scary, terrible, ugly, weird
- Technical: 800x600, double pages, fanart, sketch, textless
- Too Common: anime, censored, japanese, kissing, long hair, nymphomaniac, semen, sex, skirt, softcore, straight, upskirt, vaginal
- Too Minor: (all eye colors), (all hair colors / styles), heterochromia
- Too Vague: areola, ass, nipples, pussy, shaved, wet
- Requests: decensor request, more please, need english, torrent plz, translation wanted
- These should be made on the forums, not via tags.
Categories
Category tags should only be used to change an improperly categorized gallery. Once it receives 100 mod power the category will switch to that of the tag. If two tags are present (in which case one of them is incorrect and should be downvoted) the one with the higher power will be used. Please do not vote on these tags after they have served their purpose of re-categorizing.
Bad Variables
- Convention
- Can be in the gallery's name, but not a tag. The most recent Comiket is given a temporary exception for 30-60 days.
- Date, Year
- The month and year of publication can be in the gallery's name for anthology releases.
- Publishers, Websites
- They do not produce the content. Rare exceptions apply if no other names that can be used to identify a work's creator.
- Resolutions
- This is technical and not helpful for searches.
- Scanners, Translators
- They do not produce the content.
- Software
- The tools with which the artist created the content are irrelevant.
- Title
- The title of a gallery is NOT something to be tagged unless it is otherwise an already appropriate tag.
- Writers
- Not to be confused with the artist(s).
Do Not
- Use Cosplay-only tags such as hardcore on non-Cosplay galleries.
- Use language tags for anything other than indicating a gallery's text.
- Use a language tag on an Imageset gallery unless a vast majority of it (75%+) contains text in that language.
- Tag ANY animal names on anything that is not in conjunction with the bestiality tag. This includes furry content.
- Tag mother on anything that is not in conjunction with the incest tag. This includes women giving birth, women who happen to have children, or milfs.
- Use negative tags like "not futanari". Users who disagree with a tag should vote it down and post it in this forum thread.
- Use the cosplay tag when characters in drawn works are cosplaying as other characters; use the cosplaying tag instead.
- Combine tags (e.g. "furry yaoi"). Each tag should be separated by a comma. This also includes artist/circle names or character pairings (e.g. "naruto x hinata").
- Include circle names in anthologies/magazine scans; use only the credited artist names.
Temporary Tags
Please do not vote up tags of a temporary nature past too much mod power. These include:
- incomplete
- out of order
- Category Tags
- Any recent Convention Tags
- Expunging tags
