Whitelist

To be added to the whitelist for "rough translation" a user needs at least:

  • A mod power of 10.
  • Three existing gallery comments that fulfill the tag requirements.

To be added, a user must make a post in this thread linking to the comments they made. Existing whitelisted users and/or moderators will then validate that their posts are valid and constructive before they are approved. A history of non-constructive or discourteous posts beyond the submitted three may also disqualify the user from the whitelist.

The second post in the thread can be edited by a Global or Vigilante Moderator to change the whitelist.

A user may be removed from the whitelist if they use the tag beyond its stated purpose, provide supporting comments that are not constructive or are discourteous, or tag languages not listed with their entry.

Tag vetoers are automatically whitelisted.

Alternate Tagging Criteria

Rough translation may be added through the upload manager by the uploader, in such cases a comment is not required.

  • The Uploader not adding the tag themselves, but indicating within the work that it is machine translated, may be tagged without a detailed comment. A comment along the lines of "Uploader marked as machine translation" will suffice for this. The following methods of uploader indication apply:
    • Gallery title, such as the non-standard special indicator [MTL], set by either the upload manager or through the uploaders vote on a rename petition.
      • [MTL] should not be added through renaming except by the uploader. In cases where the gallery was renamed to include this, rough translation would not qualify without a detailed comment unless either of the below also qualify.
    • Within the work, for example on a credits page.
    • Uploader comment.
    • For English translations, the translator clearly indicating it is a rough translation.
