General Overview

The E-Hentai Gallery System is one of the core systems of the E-Hentai site, where users are able to contribute their own material in the form of one or more user galleries. A user can upload private and public galleries of hentai and anime-related content, which they can use on the E-Hentai Forums and other sites and forums in order to easily to maintain and share content with other people.

Sharing content can be done independently on the particular forums and sites on which a user wishes to do so. The system can generate BBCode and CSS-skinnable HTML for direct inclusion as external galleries, and can also host a customizable gallery for the user locally. All that is need for this is to register for an E-Hentai Forums Account.

Site Ads in the Gallery System

The User Galleries, by default, have up to four ads of mixed type and content on the main page, and two when viewing a gallery. The locations of these ads are on the top and bottom of the page, and two on either side of the gallery search box, of which the top and bottom ads are persistent throughout the gallery system.

These ads can be disabled through gallery settings, for which a user must have a Silver Aura or the Hath Perk Ads-Be-Gone perk.

Rules of Engagement

Allowed Material

Users are allowed to:

  • Post galleries featuring legally drawn characters of any kind, including anime-style drawings and American-style cartoons, both pornographic and non-pornographic. Alternative stuff is allowed, but please mark the gallery appropriately in the title and category.
  • Post real high-quality cosplay and asian porn that complies with US law.

Prohibited Material

Users are NOT allowed to:

  • Post any kind of material that contains or depicts people who are or appear to be underage (even if they are borderline), nor galleries that claim to contain this kind of content (using keywords like "lolita", "preteen", "incest", "lolicon" or derivatives, even if they do not contain this). This includes drawings and underage "models" who do not engage in actual sexual activity, as well as normal photos involving children. ANY KIND OF ILLICIT ACTIVITY INVOLVING CHILDREN WILL BE REPORTED ALONG WITH A FULL TRACE OF ALL YOUR ACTIVITY ON THIS SITE.
  • To repeat, ANY KIND OF MATERIAL INVOLVING CHILDREN IS ABSOLUTELY PROHIBITED, EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT PORNOGRAPHIC OR RISQUE IN NATURE, AND EVEN IF THEY CONTAIN NO NUDITY NOR POSES WITH SEXUAL IMPLICATIONS. JUST A SINGLE VIOLATION OF THIS RULE WILL CAUSE YOUR ACCOUNT TO BE PERMANENTLY BANNED, AND IF THE MATERIAL IS ILLICIT, YOUR DETAILS TO BE HANDED OVER TO THE GOVERNMENT OF YOUR JURISDICTION.
  • Post any depictions of real people that can be considered "obscene" under US law. This includes extreme BDSM, bestiality, scat, and other stuff that is way "out there". [1]
  • Post any kind of drawn or virtual material that violates the principles above. This explicitly includes, but is not limited to, computer-generated images ("rendered") and images created based on real people or pictures ("rotoscoped"). If it resembles or was obviously manufactured to resemble the real thing, this rule particularly applies.
  • Computer-generated or "virtual" child pornography is just as prohibited as the real stuff. Uploading this type of images is a one-strike-and-you're-out infraction.
  • Post "mixed" real porn galleries, that is, collections of images that do not feature the same model(s). This is primarily due to the workload and difficulty of conclusively verifying the age of the people present in each picture.
  • Post galleries of real people that do not fit under the Cosplay or Asian Porn categories.

End User Agreement for the E-Hentai User Galleries

As quoted from the Gallery Help page: 

You agree that, upon uploading content to this site, the content you upload is either Public
Domain, released under a Creative Commons-type license, or not copyrighted (i.e. it is within 
your rights to publish it here); or you own the copyright to the content and consent to it 
being fully published here; or you have a separate license from the copyright holder to make 
their content publicly available.

If you do violate these rules, you agree that we can submit your browsing history, uploading 
history, posting history, medical history, any and all IP addresses you have ever browsed or 
posted with, proxy traces, e-mail addresses, referring web sites, browser type, blood type, 
favorite stuffed animals, and any and all other personal information gathered in any way on 
E-Hentai.org, E-Hentai Galleries and the E-Hentai Forums, to anyone we damn well please. So 
be warned.

Copyright and Imaginary Property

As quoted from the Gallery Help page: 

E-Hentai Galleries complies with applicable copyright law. Unfortunately, due to sheer
volume it is impossible for us to verify the copyright status of every single gallery 
uploaded to our site. If you find that your copyright has been violated by one of our 
members, please report this using the Report Gallery button on the gallery in question, 
or email a list of links to the galleries in question to ehentai@gmail.com. 

Please make sure to include some proof that you are the copyright holder (your real name
and website address where content may be found/purchased is usually sufficient), as well 
as a statement that the copyright on the content has not expired, and that the content 
has not been released under an irrevocable license (like Creative Commons) that would have 
allowed the content to be made freely available.

You may send it to the specified email address in the form of a DMCA Takedown Notice if 
you wish, as it contains sufficient provisions. Normally we respond within the hour, but 
please allow six to twelve hours in case there is no qualified staff available to process
your claim.

Please note that using the report button or sending an email to us directly is faster than
whining to our hosts. They are well informed of our takedown procedures, and they will
simply forward the complaint to us with a day or two delay for their own processing.

Please be aware that all copyright claims are made under perjury of law, and false claims 
may be prosecuted.

Content Categories

There are eleven categories that a user gallery can fall under.

Doujinshi

Commonly self published H-manga that are very often based off of formalized content, such as anime, manga, video games, or other products that have anime-like characters or mascots (such as the synthesizer Vocaloid). Obviously does NOT refer to western comics even if they follow the same format.

Manga

H-manga or just manga for short in the context used on this site, are published works almost always of original content by an artist or circle. It is common to see multiple H-manga serialized in larger magazines, and for these magazines themselves be called H-manga.

Artist CG

Computer generated artwork sets, often similar to a manga but typically in full color and appear less hand-drawn. This does NOT refer simply to a batch of the artist's various works or images, it must be a particular set which is how they are typically distributed.

Game CG

Computer generated work, often frames from Eroge (erotic games), and tend to have a very large number of images for a gallery. Does NOT refer simply to images involving video game characters or in-game screenshots of video games.

Western

All western-style drawn art of a sexual nature whether they are images or comics.

Non-H

Doujinshi / manga and other anime / manga-style drawings that are NOT pornographic in nature.

Image Set

Image Sets are a generic gallery, used more often than Miscellaneous when an uploader can't decide what category to place a gallery. They are largely for drawn content of Japanese origin but that are not manga or doujinshi. Preferred to have images connected by a singular theme (e.g. a particular artist, a particular series' character(s), or a particular fetish).

Cosplay

Real people who dress up as characters in anime, manga, and video games for general posing (non-nude galleries are acceptable) or for sexual purposes. A nude asian woman dressed as a generic nurse or maid and not as a character falls under the Asian Porn category.

Asian Porn

Asian pornography of almost any kind. Does NOT allow for non-asians of any kind, male-only porn, fat women, old women, or any drawn porn based on Asian models. Non-nude galleries are not permitted unless they fall under the Cosplay category or appeal to a second fetish. The amount of GP earned from these galleries is reduced to 50% of what an uploader would usually receive. For instance if a gallery would earn 100 GP, the uploader would only receive 50 GP.

Miscellaneous

Mostly the dumping place for unrelated content. Sometimes this category is used for very small galleries, or is commonly misused when another category is more appropriate. All 3D galleries and non-sexual western galleries fall under this category. The amount of GP earned from these galleries is reduced to 25% of what an uploader would usually receive. For instance, if a gallery would earn 100 GP, the uploader would only receive 25 GP.

Private

In order to create a private gallery, you must either have a Bronze Star or higher; or have at least 100 posts on the forums, outside of FSZ/Spamhaus/Test. Though not a formal category, private galleries are galleries that the user has opted not to share with the rest of the E-Hentai Gallery community. Often they are personal galleries, re-uploads of other galleries that the user wanted for themselves, etc. The amount of GP earned from private galleries is reduced to 10% of what an uploader would usually receive. For instance, if a gallery would earn 100 GP, the uploader would only receive 10 GP.

Limits

There is a limit to the number of "Misc galleries" you can have. Included in this limit are Miscellaneous, Non-H, Asian Porn, and Western galleries. The amount of these galleries you are allowed to create are as follows:

  • 5 base
  • + 1 gallery for every ~8 days registered, up to a maximum of 95 after two years
  • + 25 galleries per level of "Misc Posting" trained in the HentaiVerse, up to a maximum of 500
  • + A star bonus depending on your donation star: 25 for Bronze, 50 for Silver, 100 for Gold, 200 for Tri, 300 for Quint, 400 for Septua and 500 for Catgirl

Subsystems of the E-Hentai Gallery System

User Overview and Control Panel

The User Overview and Control Panel is the primary location of information regarding a users activity on the E-Hentai User Galleries. Included are your visits and hits stats, GP conversion, settings, etc.

Public Gallery Moderation (Expunging)

Gallery Moderation (commonly referred to as expunging) allows users to petition for the removal of galleries from the front gallery page, primarily in regarding duplicate and inferior copies of already established galleries.

Toplists

The E-Hentai Toplists are a set of listings that showcase users who contribute the most to the galleries in many ways. There are currently 6 toplists, for individual galleries, uploaders, taggers, Hentai@Home participants, EHTracker seeders, and cleanup participants.

Gallery Manager

- Gallery Manager

The Gallery Manager is the most important system of the User Galleries. It allows uses to upload and maintain their own galleries for public and private use. It also allows a user to categorize and sort their galleries using gallery folders.

The rules for when a gallery can be deleted have changed. The deletion limit has been removed, but you can no longer delete galleries that are published and older than three days (same as for making it private), unless the gallery has been expunged or is private.

The Bounty System

The Bounty System is designed to give users a direct incentive to help other users in finding doujinshi, manga, and other material that can be posted on the galleries or in other mediums.

The Doggie Bag System

The Doggie Bag system allows users of the site to download archived versions of a gallery for a fee, either in Credits or Gallery Points. This system is shared by both the user galleries and the main galleries.

Gallery Favorites

Gallery Favorites allow a user to save a large number of galleries to a list of favorites. These favorites are saved a user chosen category which is customizable by the user.

Gallery Rating System

The rating system of the user galleries allow users to rate their own galleries as well as others. A gallery's rating is viewable on the front page of the galleries as well as within the respective gallery.

Gallery Tagging

The tagging system allows users to indicate the content and other properties of a gallery such as its author, language, themes, characters, etc.

Quick Browse in the User Galleries

The Quick Browse system is a javascript based prefetching system that loads images of a gallery in the background, allowing faster gallery loading. This can be enabled through gallery settings, for which the user must have a Gold Aura or the Quick Browse Hath Perk.

Searching System

As of April 20th, 2008 the searching algorithm underwent a complete rewrite. Included in the rewrite was:

  • A correction of the issue of finding keywords in multiple areas of a gallery, but not all in one area, causing the gallery to not be returned in a search.
  • The implementation of exclusion searching (adding a '-' to exclude keywords from a search) as well as exclusive searching (using quotations to allow forced string searches )
  • Formal support for pattern matching using '_' and '?' to match any character in a keyword, as well as '*' and '%' to match any character sequence in a search string.

In-House Example

comic*lo*4? would match everything with a title/tag starting with "comic" followed by any sequence
of chars (including none) followed by "lo" followed by another any-char-sequence followed by a 4
and a wildcard (like 40, 41, 42 and so on)

"comic rin" -2007 -2008 would match "comic rin" (but not permutations of this), that does not also
contain 2007 or 2008 in the title or tag

comic -"comic rin*2008" would match "comic", excluding everything titled/tagged as "comic rin"
followed by any-char-sequence followed by 2008

Search by Hash

According to a post in the forums searching by hashes is possible:

Current Known Issues

  • The filesize and resolution limits listed when uploading are out of date. The current limits are:
10 MB per image
~200 MB per archive
20,000 x 20,000 for resolution
  • Searches that include the phrase "school" return 0 results.
