Equipment Proficiencies
Effects:
Generally, equipment proficiencies increase the positive statistics of the piece of equipment while also decreasing the compromise statistics (Burden and Interference). Weapon proficiencies also increase the proc chance of the player's current Fighting Style.
Gaining Equipment Proficiencies:
There are two methods for gaining proficiency with equipment. These are the performing of an equipment montage or by using the specific equipment.
For Armor:
- When a player is hit, an occupied armor slot is randomly chosen. Depending on the players current proficiency with that armor type, they might proficiency in the use of that type of armor.
- When a player blocks an attack with a Shield, they have an increased chance of gaining Shield proficiency.
For Weapons:
- When a player successfully hits an enemy, there is a chance that they gain proficiency with their current fighting style.
- Players using the Niten Ichiryu fighting style do not gain proficiency in either Two-Handed or Dual Wielding proficiency even though both are used to determine equipment stats and fighting style procs.
Magic Proficiencies
Effects:
Generally, magic proficiencies increase the effect of variable effect spells (generally everything but Weaken, Bewilder, and Spark of Life) and the duration of sustained spells (everything but damage spells and cure).
Gaining Magic Proficiencies:
There are two methods for gaining proficiency with magic. These are the performing of a magic montage or by using a spell of the specific type.
Elemental Proficiency can be increased by casting Magic Missile, or by any of the elemental based spells.
Divine Proficiency can be increased by casting one of the Holy spells.
Forbidden Proficiency can be increased by casting either one of the Soul or Dark spells.
Other Notes
- Proficiencies are capped at the players level.
- Proficiency gains decrease as the proficiency approaches the cap.
