Tenboro states "All generated gear has an inherent "gear level". While this doesn't actually affect the inherent stats of the item, it will be used by the equipment scaling/balancing subsystem to increase gear power with level. And no, you probably won't be able to equip items with a gear level above yours - although it's possible I'll build in a down-scaling to the minimum of the gear level and the character level, seeing as the system easily enables that."

-He implemented the bolded part which nullifies the previous part. So, something needs to be written about the down-scaling of higher level equipment.
