=Equipment numbers=
How to use: to see if the item is above average, compare its attributes to the tables below. Most important stats are (for weapons) proc numbers (%, duration, value if present) and parry (if present) and for armor, mitigation and specialized resists (if present). Everything else is probably a matter of taste.
General note #0: having one number at the top range may make an equip piece excellent (some specialized resists or avoidances in armor...) but often (particularly in case of weapons) is not enough.
General note #1: keep in mind that most categories are dominated by specialized equipment (see [[Equipment Suffixes]]). This means that it is impossible to have an item with, for example, max bonus to STR (of the OX) and DEX (of the Raccoon). Values not affect by the suffixes are: burden, interference, and proc numbers (%, duration, value if present).
General note #2: I ([[User:Red Piotrus]]) have chose the number 300 for scaling ([http://www.starfleetplatoon.com/~cmal/equipcalc/HVEquipCalc.html Equip Calc]). This was arbitrary, representing a current holy grail level, it also means that all the numbers reported below are better than real items - but achievable, as items can be leveled up in the [[Item World]]. I could have chosen the other end of the scale (0), this would have given us smaller, more basic numbers - but less realistic (as the equip pieces are improving, not worsening, and most good pieces at this point are from levels 200+, so closer to the ideal 300 number than the theoretical 0 number). I also considered using number 275 (but 300 is nicer), or giving a range for 100 and 200 (too much work...). If you are really annoyed by scale 300, you can edit this page and add your preferred scale numbers (but keep 300).
General note #3: Opinions expressed in comments are mine (Red...). You are welcome to add to them, or change, I don't claim to be a know-it-all expert.

Comments: likely the best Bleed Wound values for 1H weapon, axes seem to be the 1H BW weapon of choice. Bleed is useful versus mob as well as verus bosses and higher legandaries, so high proc, bleed value and duration are of utmost importance. Three high primary (bleed-related, in this case) values make it an excellent axe, a combination of two and one highs and averages - a very good one, anything below - probably not worth it. Having other values at high levels if of course nice, too.

Comments: daggers are rarely used, as rapiers offer similar parry functionality (with perhaps a 2-3% less common average and 1-2 less common average interference), with a much more useful Processed Armor proc; while Axes offer a better damage output and a higher Bleeding Wound proc.

Review: the weapon of choice for Penetrated Armor proc, the most important attributes of a rapier are its proc chance and duration, as well as parry, than followed by the remaining values. Rapier's primary function is to proc the PA, to weaken bosses and higher legendaries; note that PA will be wasted on regular mobs on low-normal difficulty. They are usually used offhand (dual wielding, offhand weapons receive parry bonus, too!) and the parry attribute is useful against regular mobs. Rapiers with three high primary attributes are considered great, with two - very good, ones are rarely considered above average. Other attributes are a nice bonus if high, but are rarely payed much attention too.

Comments: rarely used on its own, can be paired with a [[#Katana|katana]] for the [[Fighting_Styles#Niten_Ichiryu|Nitchen Ichiryu]] fighting style. Likely, the most important stat of a wakizashi is its parry chance, as its damage output is going to be secondary to katana. In fact, as it will have smaller bleed than the katana, low proc chance is desired, as you don't want your wakizashi bleed to overwrite your stronger katana one. Some may argue that any bleed is better than none, though. Either way, wakizashi seems to have only one primary stat - parry; everything else is secondary - nice if high, but it is the parry that makes or breakes the waki.

Comments: rarely used. While attack damage bonus is slightly higher than with a longsword, attack accuracy is lower, and Bleeding Wound is usually more useful than Penetrated Armor. Both are often combined in a dual wield style, as 1H rapiers are a PA weapon of choice, offering slightly lower attack damage mod for a higher attack chance mod, and lower interference. Rapier's proc duration seems slightly shorter (max of 6, with max of 7 on estoc), but the difference is rather negligible.

Comment: a relatively popular 2H weapon; compared to its most popular 1H equivalent, longswords have about 20% higher damage output, higher minimum (bot not maximum) crit bonus, about 2x the weight penalties, and +1 proc duration. Compared to katanas, they have lower (halved) accuracy bonuses, possibly slightly lower crit bonus, and one less attribute bonus. This suggests that a katana is strictly better than a longsword.
