Soft Tag Filtering Examples

Soft tag filtering works based on the Tag Filtering Threshold set in My Settings. The sum of positive tags less negative tags must be equal to or greater than this threshold to appear in a search. See My Tags for where the filtering applies. The following examples assume a threshold set to 0, but may be set between -9999 and 0 (inclusive).

Using My Tags to filter undesirable tags unless desired tag(s) are also present

This is a passive filter that will work with or without a search on the gallery list.

Example: The user does not wish to see any f:stockings galleries, unless there is also f:footjob present.

• In My Tags, create a tag set.
• Add f:stockings, set a weight of -1, do not select Hidden, and click save.
• Add f:footjob, set a weight of 2, optionally select Watched, and click save.

A gallery that contains f:stockings but not f:footjob will have an overall weight of -1, and so will be filtered from the gallery list or search, as it is less than the set threshold of 0.

A gallery containing f:stockings and f:footjob will have an overall weight of +1, which is greater than than the set threshold of 0, and so will be included in the gallery list or search.

A more in-depth example:

The user wants to find only galleries with the following conditions:

- Does not contain m:yaoi, unless it contains m:crossdressing AND m:kissing.

• Add m:yaoi to a tag set with a weight of -3.
• Add m:crossdressing and m:kissing with a weight of +2 each.

A gallery containing m:yaoi and m:crossdressing will only have an overall weight of -1 which is below the set threshold, but a gallery containing m:yaoi, m:crossdressing, and m:kissing, will have an overall weight of +1, allowing it to be included in the gallery list or search.

An alternative example:

The user does not want to see f:guro, unless it's an insignificant part of the gallery:

• Add f:guro with a weight of -1
• Add f:low guro with a weight of +2

A gallery containing f:guro will only have an overall weight of -1, so these will be filtered from the gallery list and search, but a gallery containing f:guro and f:low guro, will have an overall gallery weight of +1, allowing it to be included in the gallery list or search.

Using My Tags to conditionally search for galleries that contain at least one desired tag

This is an active search that requires at least 1 tag that you wish to be included in the search, and a list of other tags of which at least one must be included. Example: The user wants to see only English results, and wants galleries that contain either stockings or pantyhose.

• In My Tags, create a tag set.
• Add l:english, set a weight of -1, do not select Hidden, and click save.
• Add f:stockings, set a weight of 2, optionally select Watched, and click save.
• Add f:pantyhose, set a weight of 2, optionally select Watched, and click save.
• Do a search for l:english$.

The search forces only galleries that have the l:english tag, but l:english results alone will be filtered due to having an overall weight of -1, which is less than the set threshold of 0. Galleries that contain either stockings or pantyhose, or which contain both, will have a score of +1, or +2 for both, which is greater than the set threshold of 0.

A more in-depth example:

The user wants to find only galleries with the following conditions:

- Does not contain f:netorare.
- Does not contain f:cheating.
- Does contain f:big breasts.
- Does contain f:femdom.
- Contains f:stockings OR f:pantyhose OR f:footjob.

• Add f:big breasts to a tag set with a weight of -1.
• Add f:stockings, f:pantyhose, and f:footjob with a weight of +2 each.
• Optionally add f:netorare and f:cheating and select Hidden for both.
• If the optional tags to be hidden were added, then the user does a search for f:"big breasts$" f:femdom$.
• If the optional tags to be hidden were not added, then the user does a search for f:"big breasts$" f:femdom$ -f:netorare$ -f:cheating$.

Example: The user does not wish to see any f:stockings galleries in their watched page, unless there is also f:footjob present.

• In My Tags, create a tag set.
• Add f:stockings, set a weight of -1, do not select Hidden, and click save.
• Add f:footjob, set a weight of 2, select Watched, and click save.

A gallery that contains f:stockings but not f:footjob will have an overall weight of -1, and so will be filtered from the watched page, as it is less than the set threshold of 0.

A gallery containing f:stockings and f:footjob will have an overall weight of +1, which is greater than than the set threshold of 0, and so will be included in the watched page.

A more in-depth example:

The user wants to filter galleries from their watched page, but does not want to filter them from the gallery search:

- Does not contain m:yaoi, unless it contains m:crossdressing.

Set the Tag Filtering Threshold to a low number (in this example -10), and the Tag Watching Threshold to a high number (in this example, +60):

• Add m:yaoi to a tag set with a weight of -9.
• Add m:crossdressing with a weight of +60.

A gallery containing m:yaoi and m:crossdressing will have an overall weight of 51 which is greater than both the Tag Watching Threshold and the Tag Filtering Threshold, so will appear in both a search, and the watched page.

A gallery containing m:yaoi only will have an overall weight of -9, which is greater than the Tag Filtering Threshold, and Lower than the Watched Filtering Threshold, so will appear in a gallery search, but not the watched page.

A gallery containing m:crossdressing only will have an overall weight of 60, which is greater than both the Tag Watching Threshold and the Tag Filtering Threshold, so will appear in both a search, and the watched page.

Notes

• The overall tag weight does not need to exceed either of the thresholds to be included in results, it may also equal it. A tag set with a -1 weight tag and a +1 weight tag will not be filtered if the threshold is set to 0 when both are present in the gallery. For easier illustration purposes, all examples listed here exceed the threshold.
• Some filters may filter all of the galleries in the list, in such cases the user may go forward pages until he arrives at a page that has at least 1 result.
• Tags between multiple active tag sets are calculated the same as if all were combined to one single tag set.
  • A tag set with m:yaoi set to -2, and a separate tag set with m:crossdressing set to +3, will still filter galleries that contain only m:yaoi, and prevent filtering if they also contain m:crossdressing.
  • The same tag may not exist in more than one tag set. Setting f:big breasts as a tag in a tag set, then setting f:big breasts in another tag set, regardless of options selected or weights given, the latest one set with its values will be added and the older will be removed.
