All costume / clothing fetishes:
*May only be tagged for females unless yaoi / genderbending takes place.
*May only be tagged if they are still at least partially worn during sexual activities. If they are removed completely beforehand the tag is not valid.

How To Determine If A Tag Is Good
See how well it passes the following 4 questions:
:1. Do people search with this tag?
:2. Is this tag clearly defined?
:3. Is this tag NOT better substituted with another?
:4. Do people vote on this tag accurately and frequently?

Split content into more than one page
I suggest that the content currently on this page be split. The first half or so (from the beginning through the Bad Tags section) is mostly a guide. The latter half (from What are Slave Tags? through Known Issues) is more of a FAQ.

Having both of those parts in the same page makes it quite long, but on top of that, it lacks focus. The first half of this page tells a user how to tag; that's all that needs to be on such a page. If a user wants to know about mod power or tag colors or something, then 1) they're likely to read a page called a "FAQ" or similar, 2) it would help them to actually separate out the FAQ topics from the guide topics.

If you split the page, all you have to do is include a link to the new FAQ page in the lead section (and probably See Also) to ensure that people won't miss it.
:Eh, not sure what to call the new page, "FAQ" seems sorta okay but I'm open to suggestions. - Maximum Joe (talk) 14:43, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
:: The best alternatives I can offer right now are something like "About Gallery Tagging" or "Gallery Tagging Mechanics". PeopleDon'tDanceNoMore (talk) 17:27, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
:::Done. Looks very brisk now, should be easier for newbies to chew on. Thanks for the idea! - Maximum Joe (talk) 17:59, 17 February 2013 (UTC)

Notes

  • furry and alien are not mutually exclusive.
  • Creatures from pokemon are judged between animal, monster, and furry based on their level of anthropomorphization and animal attributes.

Presence Notes

  • The general 25% rule is a baseline used for the most common gallery (a ~20 page doujinshi). It does not scale up past that point nor is it ironclad. The general idea is that something tagged is easily found within the gallery and is of a satisfactory amount. Sequential images generally lower the burden to meet minimum presence.
    • The more fragmented non-sequential images are the less they count.
  • Colophons without illustrations, blank pages, and credits do not count as part of a gallery's image count for presence purposes.
  • A 4-or-less image gallery can have anything within it be tagged (although this is ill advised for [Ongoing] galleries since the tags may suddenly be disqualified upon more images being added).
  • For anthologies 4+ sequential images suffices for credited artists.
  • For all but one of the Change tags only images involving the change itself are counted. For gender bender the duration of the individual being a different gender also qualifies (assuming sexual activity or non-h presence).
  • 1 image is enough to nullify gallery-wide tags like girls only / guys only.
    • Omake/covers/credits/colophons can be ignored for technical tags like full color.
  • Whilst the incest tag is 1-image only the accompanying family tags (e.g. mother) are not and thus do not necessarily qualify if the actual activities involving them is too low in presence.
