Generic term for the otherwise unnamed protagonist of video games. They may have less defined physical features and are often identified based on costume/context. DO NOT use for named protagonists who have their own name, tags and more clearly defined visual characteristics (ex. Shirou Emiya, Gudao, Gudako, Yuu Kannagi, Lenka Utsugi).

Some series like God Eater have both unnamed and named protagonists. Do not confuse them!

DO NOT CONFUSE with hero (Dragon Quest, etrian odyssey), heroine (Dragon Quest, Amnesia, Shin Megami Tensei), yuusha (Maoyuu Maou Yuusha).
