All Equipment has a tiered scale of Prefixes such as quality grade (QG) and Element (EL) as well as suffixes of unknown effect.
Tenboro states "All generated gear has an inherent "gear level". While this doesn't actually affect the inherent stats of the item, it will be used by the equipment scaling/balancing subsystem to increase gear power with level. And no, you probably won't be able to equip items with a gear level above yours - although it's possible I'll build in a down-scaling to the minimum of the gear level and the character level, seeing as the system easily enables that."
